Book on devastating fire nearing completion

Category Property

The stories and pictures that emerged after an almost unprecedented fire storm destroyed scores of houses in Betty's Bay on 11 January 2019, having started 10 days earlier at midnight on New Year's Day and having laid thousands of hectares of fynbos to waste in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, will be available in book form by December this year.

A group of volunteers, all residents from the area where the fire occurred, and including seasoned authors as well as experts in other relevant fields, have been working on compiling the book as an item of commemoration and hope, as well as a record of events for posterity.

It will be a coffee table publication in landscape format and will be sold at R250 per copy.

As the team is totally dependent on pre-sales and sponsorships or donations for the funding of the printing process, orders can already be placed and payments made.

Should an interested party wish to sponsor one or more pages of the book, this can be done at an amount of R1000 per page. Any other amounts will of course be welcomed with much gratitude. Acknowledgments and thanks will be listed in the back of the book.

The Betty's Bay Ratepayers Association has agreed to manage and handle the payments, and the account details are as follows:
