Hangklip Art Week, a week long art event known as HAWK, took place from 16 – 24 March 2013. 
Twenty six resident and visiting artists participated with the main exhibition in the Harold Porter Botanical gardens and 13 open studio’s in the Betty’s Bay area. Pop-up food events were popular and guests where treated on Snoek  at Mooi Uitsig, Chocolate by local chocolatier, Gaspard Bossut, home cooking by Cara Brink and fish burgers at the gazebo held by Stoned Olives, Ronel Theron and Billy Stanley. Hikes through fynbos country, live music and talks on the history of the area formed part of the events. 
This yearly event is gaining in popularity and is attracting many tourists from Cape Town and the Somerset West / Strand / Gordon’s Bay hub. As Betty’s Bay’s and the Whale Coast’s secret as a fantastic destination is becoming more known,  more and more people are considering to buy property and become residents in this wonderful and healthy fynbos environment.
