The true importance of a virtual fun run

Meridian Realty has always been at the forefront of technology, using the latest digital tools to offer both buyers and sellers an unmatched realty experience. It is this commitment to digital advancements that has allowed our iAgents to work safely (and more effectively than ever before) throughout the pandemic.

But while the world has grown accustomed to working in isolation due to health and safety concerns, staying connected to your team has become increasingly difficult. In a business that has always blazed the way for estate agents to work autonomously outside of the office environment, we know how important it is to create a sense of belonging and community between people in a professional environment.

While Meridian Realty has gone out of its way to allow our iAgents the opportunity to mould their own futures, we also recognise our responsibility to offer them the necessary support that ensures their well-being. Although this includes expert technical and administrative support, not to mention access to the latest digital marketing tools, it also covers the social support needed to make our iAgents part of the Meridian Family.

As part of this support, and to remind our Meridian iAgents that they are part of a much greater community, some of our iAgents and support staff took part in a virtual fun run during August. Taking to the streets, valleys, creeks, beaches, and nature reserves, our iAgents walked, jogged, and hiked together, tracking their progress digitally as they went. This just goes to show that nothing can stand in the way of a committed team who always seek new ways to build their bond. (See our iAgents in action HERE.)

But how does Meridian Realty maintain the bonds that make our family so strong?

The first step is using communication platforms to their optimal potential. In the estate agency business, we're fortunate enough to utilise digital platforms for marketing and client communications on a daily basis. But this familiarity with digital communication has also allowed us to keep in touch and catch up with each other regularly. And as with the work/life balance in any profession, it's important to make room for some fun and just to enjoy the company of your peers every so often (even if it's through a Zoom chat).

Creating a virtual environment where team members can come to find assistance and support is part of what makes Meridian what it is. In a regular office, it's easy to pop around the corner and get assistance from a colleague on a task you're struggling with. When working remotely, it's important to create an online culture where communication is fully embraced. At Meridian, we've built a business culture of support, where we're always there for one another, assisting each other however we can.

Now instead of regular "socials", where new team members are offered a chance to connect with their colleagues on a personal level, we go out of our way to build that same sense of community through digital events and team building activities. When the creation of a community is given the necessary attention, each team member knows that they are part of a larger body of professionals and are never alone.

The most important thing to remember is that a healthy professional environment often requires you to forget about work and simply enjoy life. And at Meridian Realty, we go out of our way to help you realise your real estate dreams so that you can enjoy every moment of your life just as much.
